I love me some taco flavored kisses and I love me some Cinco de Mayo! Quick fun fact, Cinco De Mayo isn’t celebrated all over Mexico, only some parts. Their independence Day and most important Holiday happens in September. So just like French Fries weren’t created by the French, Cinco De Mayo is another excuse for Americans to have a day to celebrate. No one is complaining on my end. I don’t need an excuse to eat a good taco or have a delicious Margarita, but it doesn’t hurt to have a day where everyone is celebrating and wanting all the taco and tequila goodness. You better believe I got myself a delicious Marg and ordered a bag full of tacos for this evening right after my hot pilates class this afternoon.

It’s interesting to think about the way I celebrate Holidays now as a parent opposed to my 20’s before being responsible was a must. In all honesty I think the only thing that as changed is that I know I need to get to bed earlier. I was never a black out drinker, no seriously I never blacked out once in my life. The other difference is that I don’t make elaborate plans anymore like I used too. Before today I would have made sure my plans were in lock at least two weeks ahead of time. Now, depending on the Holiday, I keep it way more chill with a lot let pressure. If something dope comes up, GREAT, if something doesn’t, I am not going to cry about it, I am going to bring up my Mini Bar delivery app and celebrate on my own or with a few friends…and of course with my daughter. I think that’s something that also changes the way I celebrate certain Holidays. I like to have her involved in most of the celebratory things that I do. Not all parents are like this, no judgement. Having my daughter involved in a lot of the things that I do definitely changes what I can and cannot attend with her, what is appropriate and what isn’t.

Today on this rainy Cinco De Mayo Sunday in New York, I was happy enough to be able to make a drink at home, order in some delicious tacos and spend it with my daughter watching a movie and just relaxing. Let me add, that I did get a lot of my party skills from my Mother and although I am not someone bursting at the seams with recipes, nor is cooking my domesticated task of choice, but thankfully my Mother has gifted me with the best Margarita recipe you will EVER have. They don’t call her “Mila Margarita” for nothing. WARNING: drink at your own risk. They are tasty and one might have you falling on your ass!
